Some insurance and coverage plans cover mental health services by a licensed professional counselor. Many plans limit what types of counseling or even what diagnoses they will cover. Often, these limitations are not evident until after the claim has been submitted and refused. Most insurance companies and managed care plans limit the number of sessions for which they pay. You should check with your health plan to find out more about any limitations in your coverage. I do not file or "take" insurance.
